Emergency Department-based Injury In-depth Surveillance Data, 2006-2015

Abstract
Injuries are a global public health problem. More than five million people die each year as a result of injuries. Injuries are the first leading causes of death for people aged 0?44 years in Korea, killing approximately 30,000 people a year. The Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention has developed the ¡®Emergency Department-based Injury In-depth Surveillance (ED-based Injury In-depth Surveillance)¡¯, since 2006. The major results from 2006 to 2015 showed that hospital admission rate was 12% and fatality rate was 1% for males and females but higher in females.
